Millennial Mom on CBS LA: Family Bonding Activities
I’m always looking for fun activities that my daughter and I (or her dad) can do together in the comfort of our own home. That’s why I went on CBS LA’s KCAL9 to give some fun ideas for parents of kids of all ages to do together! Whether you have babies or teens, finding time for bonding activities is important for their development.

HobbyTron Drones
Drones have taken the world by storm the last few years and kids are now getting in on the fun. HobbyTron is America’s largest online retailer of drones and they have tons of options that are perfect for parents and kids to fly together. Teens will love flying around the Mini Orion or the Striker and seeing the live feed or taking videos. And the younger kids will love this Jetpack Spiderman drone. Check out everything Hobby Tron has to offer. They have a huge selection of RC cars, helicopters, boats and more.
Little Tikes Waffle Blocks
Little Tikes is a world-leading toy brand and they’re all about imaginative play for kids of all ages. I have their Waffle Blocks here today and they make it easy for little hands to build big and with the help of mom or dad, kids can build anything their hearts desire! These creatures I have here today were built using the 100 piece set. But there’s tons of things that can be built. From steam trains, school buses and fire trucks. You can create in 3D or stack them wide or tall. The Waffle Blocks bags double as storage for easy clean up.

Monoprice Select Mini V2
Next up I have the Monoprice Select Mini V2. It’s the world’s #1 selling 3D printer and for good reason. It’s one of the only 3D printers that comes ready to print right out of the box and costs a fraction of the price of other 3D printers on the market. It’s super easy to use, making it a great activity for parents and kids to do together. Kids can let their imaginations run wild and create all sorts of 3D objects with the help of mom or dad. It’s a great way to give children the confidence to explore new technologies and develop a love for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Real Cooking Kids Princess Cakes
Studies have shown that cooking with real food is better for a child’s development than using play food and a play kitchen. That’s why I love Real Cooking Kids’ Princess Cakes. These are real cakes that kids and parents can make together in a real kitchen and oven. You simply take the mix and combine it with your own eggs, milk and butter, bake the cake, and then decorate it using all the ingredients and tools that come with the kit. It gives you step by step instructions so it’s super easy whether you have baking experience or not. Plus, they taste great and look professional!
Bertolli Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
It’s also great to get the kids involved in cooking their meals to encourage healthy eating. My daughter loves to help me cook pasta and it’s an easy meal to prepare. To make her pasta more nutritious, I use lentil pasta and toss it in Bertolli olive oil and parmesan. Bertolli is the number one olive oil brand in the world and has several varieties. Not only does olive oil add rich flavor, but it’s also packed with nutrients like Vitamin E, antioxidants, and healthy fats which are important for my toddler to get since she can be a finicky eater. Bertolli olive oil is organic, which I like, and can be used in a number of recipes from meats, dips, pastas and vegetables. Find it at your local Vons or Albertsons.
Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper Versatile Bassinet
Let’s end with talking about newborns! They can’t do a whole lot in those first ew months but it’s a crucial time for bonding and a great way to do that is by having them sleep in a co-sleeper next to your bed. The Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper Versatile Bassinet has adjustable heights and accommodates all types and heights of beds to keep your baby close and safe. You can actually position the sleeping nest so that it rests on top of your mattress or alongside your bed, which makes it much easier for breastfeeding, bonding and nighttime comforting. The Sleeping Nest is lightweight and has wheels so you can easily move it between mom’s side of the bed and dad’s.
